About Dried Apricots

Dried apricots are cooked from widely-known southern fruits called apricots. People started to dry apricots a long time ago, when it was difficult to store food. Dried apricots and other dried fruits can be stored for a long time. During this period they are keeping healthy properties of fruits they were made of.

Small dried apricots with stones are called wild unpitted apricots. They have rather a sour taste, and grey and brown mat colour. Dried apricots present themselves dried halves of apricots without stones, while Syrian apricots are whole apricots without stones. Depending on sorts, technologies of raw material preparations and ways of drying, all kinds of these dried fruits can have different shades of yellow, orange and brown colours with shining or mat surface.

All the properties, which a fresh apricot can boast of, are saved in his dried variants (wild unpitted apricots, dried apricots, Syrian apricots). These are carbohydrates (glucose, fructose), organic acids, cellulose, vitamins A, E, C, B1, B2, B3, B9, minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, iron, cobalt, iodine, manganese, zinc, fluorine).

The best dried apricots are those which are dried in natural conditions in the sun and aren’t processed by chemical substances.

Dried apricots from countries of Central Asia are in high demand.
